GRANT PROCESSES

Compared to grantees at the typical funder, Rogers grantees perceive the selection process as less helpful than typical and its reporting/evaluation process as more helpful than typical in strengthening their organizations/programs.

Grantees spend fewer hours than is typical on the:

  • Selection process
  • Reporting/evaluation process

Rogers grantees receive more grant dollars per hour that they spend on selection and reporting/evaluation processes than grantees at the typical funder.

CEP research suggests that discussion of a completed report or evaluation is associated with higher ratings for the helpfulness of the reporting/evaluation process. A larger than typical proportion of Rogers grantees indicate that they discussed their completed report/evaluation with Rogers staff.

“How helpful was participating in the Foundation’s selection process in strengthening the organization/ program funded by the grant?"

Selected Grantee Comments:

  • "The Rogers process is very straightforward and fairly simple. The amount of time invested in the process is generally proportional to the amount of the grant award. Foundation staff are accessible and transparent. I receive regular email communications from the Foundation. It is a relatively 'headache-free' process as compared with other funders."

  • "Appreciate the use of online proposal and reporting systems, proposal and reporting requirements are clear and relevant."

  • "The Rogers foundation has very clear processes. My organizations contact with the foundation is always very helpful."
